The Detroit Zoo – one of Michigan’s largest family attractions– is situated on 125 acres of naturalistic habitats, providing a home for more than 2,000 animals representing 240 species. The Zoo includes animals from aardvarks to zebras and features naturalistic habitats such as the Polk Penguin Conservation Center, Arctic Ring of Life, National Amphibian Conservation Center, Center, Holden Reptile Conservation Center, Australian Outback Adventure, Great Apes of Harambee and Butterfly Garden.
